ピアニスト、作曲家・編曲家、YouTubeクリエイター。
4歳からピアノを始め、国立音楽大学附属中学・高校を経て、日本大学芸術学部および大学院を修了。
大学在学中よりアーティストサポートや楽曲提供を行い、これまでに多くのテレビ番組・映画音楽・アニメ音楽・ゲーム音楽を手がけ、2019年には2020東京オリンピックWeb CMの楽曲制作を担当し、注目を集めた。
自身のYouTubeチャンネルでは、登録者数が79万人を超え、総再生回数は3億回以上に達している。
2023年に投稿されたMay J.とのコラボ動画は再生回数が2,000万回を突破し、YouTubeの芸能人部門で1位を獲得。国内外で高い人気を誇る。
コンサート活動も精力的に行っており、2021年のサントリーホールでの単独公演、2023年のイギリスツアー全公演、2025年のオーチャードホール単独公演は全てSOLD OUT。
さらに、「FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL」やドイツ開催のヨーロッパ最大級のアニメフェス「AnimagiC」、くるり主催「京都音楽博覧会」などの大型音楽フェスティバルにも多数出演し、幅広い音楽ファンを魅了している。
これまで数々の国際音楽コンクールで入賞し、オーケストラのソリストとしても数多くの公演に出演。
2024年11月、日本人では初となる一晩でガーシュウィンのコンチェルト作品全4曲を演奏するコンサートを開催。2025年には新日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団の定期演奏会にて、超絶技巧を要する難曲「ヒナステラ：ピアノ協奏曲第1番」を演奏し、その卓越した技術と音楽性を印象づけた。
クラシック音楽で培った確かな技術を基盤に、優れた即興力と編曲技術であらゆるジャンルを自在に演奏するそのスタイルは、唯一無二のピアニストとして高く評価されている。
NHK「クラシックTV」「SONGS」などのメディア出演や、月刊ショパン「菊池亮太のぶらり音楽さんぽ」連載など多方面で活躍し続けている。

He began playing the piano at the age of four, attended the junior high and high schools affiliated with the Kunitachi College of Music, and graduated from Nihon University’s College of Art and Graduate School.
While still a student, he supported various artists and provided music for them. To date, he has worked on numerous TV programs, film scores, anime music, and game music. In 2019, he gained attention for composing the music for the web commercial for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
His YouTube channel has over 790,000 subscribers, and the total number of views has exceeded 300 million. A collaboration video with May J. posted in 2023 has received more than 20 million views and ranked first in the entertainer category on YouTube. It is highly popular both in Japan and abroad.
He is also highly active as a concert performer, with all tickets sold out for his solo recital at Suntory Hall in 2021, his full UK tour in 2023, and his solo performance at Orchard Hall in 2025. Additionally, he has performed at many major music festivals, such as “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL,” “AnimagiC,” Europe’s largest anime festival held in Germany, and the “Kyoto Ongaku Hakurankai” hosted by Quruli, captivating a wide range of music fans.
He has won numerous international music competitions and performed as a soloist with orchestras on many occasions. In November 2024, he became the first pianist to perform all four of Gershwin’s piano concertos in a single evening during a concert held in Japan. In 2025, he appeared as a soloist with the New Japan Philharmonic, performing Ginastera’s Piano Concerto No. 1 as part of their regular concert series.
His unique style, built on the solid technical foundation cultivated through classical music, combined with outstanding improvisational and arrangement skills, allows him to perform across various genres, earning him high praise as a one-of-a-kind pianist.
He continues to appear on various media platforms, such as NHK’s “Classical TV” and “SONGS,” and writes the monthly column “Ryota Kikuchi’s Casual Musical Stroll” for Chopin magazine, showcasing his talents in a wide range of fields.
